1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
This is our hope! Our promise of a heavenly inheritance! Peter’s understanding of the death and resurrection of Jesus is evident! This letter was written to the believers who were going through various trials, even being mistreated because of their faith in Christ! He reminds them that their faith would bring praise honor and glory to Jesus! (1 Pet 1:6,7)
Not everyone understood! Even those that believed in Jesus grieved when he was crucified! (John 16:16-23) They didn’t fully understand when He told them He would rebuild the temple in three days! (John 2:19-20) It was not until Jesus rose from the dead that the disciples remembered what He had said and believed!
Jesus said to Martha “I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25,26) Martha believed. Do you? Have you been saved through faith in Jesus? Do you believe He died and rose again on the third day, conquering death forever? (Luke 24:6, Matt 28:5-6, 1 Cor 15:3-4, 1 Thes 4:14)
As we navigate the week before Resurrection Sunday, let’s reflect on the death and resurrection of Christ, remembering that we were made “alive” (2 Cor 15:22) in Christ and whether we are alive in the flesh, or alive in our eternity we live together with Him! (1Thes 5:9-10) He died in our place, paying for our sins, so that we are invited in to enter a right relationship with a Holy God. (1Pet 3:18)
If you have not received this gift of Grace and mercy, now is the time. (Romans 10:9) if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. It’s that simple.
Lord God, You loved this world so much, that you gave your one and only Son so we can be alive with you forever. Lord help us to live in the grace of Easter Sunday, every day. Help us be thankful for your sacrifice! In Jesus name Amen.
