Rejoice!

Is there anything stealing your joy? Distracting you? Making you worried or concerned? Paul has an answer for you – rejoice in the Lord. He reminds us in Philippians 3 that if anyone had a right to be joyful in their natural circumstances, it was Paul. He had a great resume according to the culture of the time. But after he had an encounter with Jesus, none of that mattered anymore. He says he considers it all garbage (vs 8) compared to knowing Christ. His point is, that all of that can change. If we want to be joyful, we need to focus on things that last forever (vs 14). Our happiness can change with the weather, but our joy is complete because it doesn’t depend on our circumstances. Our joy depends on God who is never changing. We can use the final verses as a reminder to ourselves anytime we feel something is stealing our joy. . . 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

What a promise! Rejoice in the Lord today.
