From the Pastor

What is a disciple? How do we make disciples at LAMP Ministries?

Being a disciple is more than simply believing in Jesus or receiving His salvation. As Practicing the Way reminds us, a disciple intentionally prioritizes three things:

  1. Being with Jesus
  2. Becoming like Jesus
  3. Doing what Jesus did

At LAMP, our mission flows directly from the Great Commandment (Mark 12:30–31) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20). We boil these scripture foundations down into four core actions:

  • Praising the Lord
  • Loving one another
  • Equipping the saints
  • Reaching the lost

My responsibility as your pastor is to build a leadership team that fosters a Christ-centered community where this discipleship can happen within individuals who submit themselves to the work of the Holy Spirit:

  • Belong: He/she feels unconditional love and belonging.
  • Believe: He/she receives God as their Father, Jesus as their Savior, the Holy Spirit as their Teacher, and the Bible as the authority in their life.
  • Become: He/she grows in their identity as a child of God into the image of Christ. Discover and use their spiritual gifts for God’s glory.
  • Bring: He/she reaches others through personal invitation and evangelism so more people can find their place of belonging in God’s family.

This growth will happen as we invite people into the rhythm of our community that is Praising, Loving, Equipping, and Reaching.

I ask you to invite others to join us—and be ready to welcome whoever God sends our way so they, too, know they Belong. As they come to Believe in Christ’s grace, they will Become the masterpieces God created them to be (Ephesians 2:8–10), and will be inspired to Bring others to “come and see.” (John 1:46)

In Christ,

Pastor Nate
