Our 5 yr old asked to go fishing and my dad told him that he would need patience to which he replied, “Oh, I don’t have that!” Kids say the best things!
Being patient is hard y’all. How many of us, if we were being honest, would answer God the same way when he asks us to wait? “But God, I don’t have any of that patience stuff.”
Here’s a shocker for you. God knows that we don’t have patience! He knows that the type of patience he wants us to have is a fruit of the spirit and the spirit comes from him (Gal 5:22). We have to rely on him when we need to wait. And he also gave us the answer, we have to live by the spirit (Gal 5:25).
Walk in the spirit this week. Let God help you be patient. We are all getting a little stir crazy and tired of our new normal. Give your cares to God. When he asks you to wait, be honest and ask for some help in the patience department. He promises to give you what you need. See what God will do as you walk with him.
“Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance [patience], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (NIV)
