Do you feel lonely and isolated? The most common comment people have been making to us lately about needs people have is that they feel alone. We aren’t meant to do life by ourselves!
We already posted about people showing love by caring for each other. We need to reach out and check in and be intentional to ensure people still feel connected even if we only see each other digitally. The good news is that God, the author of love, cares for us as well.
Have you heard of “common grace”? These are things all people receive whether they believe in him or not: Zechariah 10:1 “Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.” God provided nature as a way of caring for us and meeting our needs and he shares it with all. Psalm 8:4 also states that God cares for us despite our behaviors, “what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”
Then for those of us who have been adopted into his family, God cares for us as a shepherd for his sheep: Psalm 95:7 “for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” This theme shows up many times throughout the bible. And in 1 Peter 5:7, Peter encourages the believers to “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
Because God cares for us and is shepherding us, we can relax. We can trust him to give guidance, provision, protection, and companionship. He promises to never leave us alone. This is great news. Love Cares!
