Maturity

1 My heart is not proud, Lord,
my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted myself,
I am like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child I am content
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord
both now and forevermore.

Psalm 131

Today consider the definition of ‘bring to maturity’ for the Hebrew letter gimel. This is a call to wean. Don’t stay a baby Christian your whole life but move on to fruitfulness. This was the first command in Genesis 1:28 – God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Don’t let the world affect you, but place your hope in the Lord and be calm and quieted. Move into your calling, take up your place as a prince or princess of the kingdom. Be fruitful and mature.

Blessings!
