Pastor’s Blog

The first part of LAMP’s Vision statement is to REDEEM people by REaching cities through small groups, missions, and multiplication.

Starting in December we’re going to begin reaching souls in your cities, and at the same time increase our rest in the Lord, by practicing the Spiritual Discipline of honoring the Sabbath in groups.

The day of Sabbath rest was modelled by our Father at the beginning, instructed by the scriptures time and time again, and reconfirmed by Jesus when he said in Mark 2:27 “the sabbath was made for man”.  It is a blessing and gift when we will make time to observe it.

For nearly 3,500 years, followers have been honoring the Sabbath by gathering with others for dinner, reading scriptures, and giving thanks to God for all that he has done.  That’s it, there’s nothing complicated about it.  Yet this simple act is like taking in a deep breath of God, builds relationships, and creates an opportunity to invite others into the rest of our LORD.

We have some volunteers who will be hosting Sabbath Groups on 1st and 3rd Saturdays, with the intention that Sabbath begins Saturday evening and ends Sunday evening.  Sabbath hosts will coordinate a simple potluck, ensure some scripture is read, and some prayers are spoken.  Your responsibility is only to come, enjoy, give thanks to God, and consider inviting others to join you.

2nd Saturdays will be a larger group gathering at the LAMP Fellowship Hall, because we know it’s fun to get together.  🙂

On 4th and 5th Saturdays, we desire that you will continue the tradition at your home with your family, and consider inviting your friends and neighbors.

If you’re already honoring the Sabbath, that’s great, you’re in a tiny minority in today’s busy world!  Consider inviting someone to be a part of your Sabbath and sharing it with someone who needs it.  If you’re willing to be a Sabbath Group host, please let me know!

If you’d like to join a Sabbath Group, please reach out to Pastor Nate at nate@lampmin.com.

The 4th Commandment is to Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy.  It’s actually the longest commandment and the only one with a promise of a blessing.  Let’s experience the blessings of the LORD together!

Sincerely,
Pastor Nate
