Pastor Nate introduced our theme for the year as “Let Your Light Shine” and at the end of the sermon we got to light a candle to signify our desire to shine for others. Amazingly, the concept of light has been continuing to come up this week. One of the verses in my devotional this morning was 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
It is God’s light. And it is wonderful. That takes off the pressure. We don’t have to summon up the goodness or the brightness or the energy to shine. All we have to do is be willing to show Him off. I love our altar illustration because it shows the power of the church. Do you notice how all of the candles together make a brighter ‘light’ than just one would? That’s what we can do together.
Let’s shine for Jesus this week and into 2025!
