When we gather together as a body of believers, there is a distinct, tangible presence of God that moves in our midst. Faith isn’t meant to be a passive spectator sport; it’s an active, spirit-led journey where every single member—from the youngest child to the longest-serving elder—has a vital role to play [03:13]. During a recent service at LAMP Ministries, the congregation experienced a spontaneous, deeply moving time of fellowship, exhortation, prayer, and communion [13:31].
When we step out in faith, make space for the Holy Spirit, and give Jesus total permission in our lives, life-changing transformation happens.
The Holy Spirit Lives in You—Regardless of Age
It is easy to fall into the trap of believing that ministry belongs solely to pastors, worship leaders, or ordained staff. However, Scripture paints a very different picture.
In 1 Timothy 4:12, the Apostle Paul writes:
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
The same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells in every single believer [03:32]. Age is not a barrier to God’s power. Children and youth do not possess a “junior” Holy Spirit; they possess the exact same Spirit of God that works through adult leaders [03:32].
When members of the congregation step forward to share a verse, offer an encouraging word, or pray for one another, the entire body is edified [03:51]. We don’t need a formal invitation or a special title to speak God’s truth; we simply need a willing heart to be used by Him [04:11].
Opening God’s Love Letter
During times of fellowship and reflection, the Bible is often described as God’s personal love letter to humanity [05:07]. God loved us so deeply that He took on human form through Jesus, showing us how to live, how to pray, how to walk, and how to love [05:18].
The Scriptures tell us who we are and whose we are [05:38]. When we become familiar with His word, we gain holy boldness—a bold faith that empowers us to:
- Approach God with confidence [05:38].
- Pray fervently for healing and deliverance [05:49].
- Support one another through life’s hardships [05:49].
- Boldly testify of God’s goodness [05:49].
God’s love is patient. He patiently waits for us to open our eyes, listen for His voice, and seek Him [06:08]. If you feel a nudge in your heart today, stop waiting. Open His love letter, put your name in the promises written on its pages, and allow the Holy Spirit to pull a “reboot” on your spiritual life, rekindling an unquenchable fire within you [06:48, 07:22].
The Power of Just Showing Up
Have you ever felt too exhausted, discouraged, or burnt out to go to church or meet with fellow believers? It’s a common struggle. Yet, there is supernatural power in simply making the decision to show up [07:45, 08:26].
Your physical and spiritual presence in a room matters far more than you realize. Someone stepped into service carrying a spiritual blockage—a weight in their faith that felt impossible to break [08:09]. Yet, simply seeing another brother or sister in Christ show up that morning helped break that spiritual barrier [08:09].
God uses your presence even when you aren’t aware of it [08:18, 08:33].
- When you are tired, show up.
- When you feel like you have nothing to offer, show up.
- When you feel brokenhearted, remember that God is close to the brokenhearted [09:33].
Jesus did not go to the cross for nothing; He died so that we could have life [08:51]. If there feels like a dead area in your heart or circumstances today, grab hold of Jesus and let the Holy Spirit breathe life into you once again [08:59].
Communion: Giving Jesus Permission to Change Us
The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, holds profound spiritual depth. When Jesus first instructed His followers to eat His body and drink His blood, many of His disciples struggled to comprehend it and walked away [10:07, 10:15].
Yet, as we examine the Lord’s Supper, we discover an extraordinary invitation. Taking physical elements that represent Jesus’ body broken and His blood shed for us is an act of spiritual surrender [10:45]. It is a tangible way of saying:
“Jesus, I give You permission to become part of me. Break down into every area of my life, spread through my heart, my mind, and my body, and replace my brokenness with Your goodness and love.” [10:55,12:04]
Communion carries real, transformational power. Throughout history and in our communities today, people have experienced miraculous physical healings, freedom from addictions, and emotional restoration while taking Communion in faith [11:14, 11:26].
Furthermore, Communion unites us across time and space. When we partake in the Lord’s Supper, we unite with every believer across the globe and throughout history who has ever put their trust in Christ [11:46]. It is a moment to let go of self-criticism, surrender our bodily and emotional insecurity, and invite Jesus to transform us completely [11:56, 12:14].
Stepping Out in Faith and Pressing In
True spiritual growth requires us to press beyond our comfort zones [14:00, 15:11]. It’s easy to settle into routine, but God desires a hungry, passionate church that willingly presses into His presence [15:11, 15:45].
Pressing in means:
- Being Willing to Take Steps of Faith: Coming forward for prayer, sharing a word of wisdom, or simply raising a hand in surrender [14:04, 14:41].
- Prioritizing the Holy Spirit over Production: Great music and modern tech are wonderful tools, but they are not what save or heal us. The Holy Spirit drawing us into the presence of the Father is what truly transforms lives [15:37, 22:19].
- Carrying the Load Together: A thriving church body relies on shared responsibility. Whether it’s praying for new worship leaders, serving in mid-week ministries, or offering hospitality, every step matters [17:21, 20:49].
Final Encouragement: A Heart of Readiness
God is doing a new thing in our community, but it calls for our active participation and genuine faith [14:00, 19:12].
Whether you join in person or participate online, come with an expectant heart [18:48]. Get down on your knees, pray passionately, seek His face, and look for opportunities to speak life into those around you [21:56, 23:50].
The Holy Spirit is alive, active, and moving. Will you give Him permission to work in your life today? [08:44, 12:14]
